What the Clay Remembers

Clay is ground rock and river silt, aged and wedged until the air is out of it. The wedging matters. A pocket of air is a future crack, and a crack in the kiln is a piece we will not sell.

Terracotta stays porous and warm. It wants to be a planter, a dry jug, a sculptural vessel. Stoneware, fired hotter, vitrifies and can hold a glaze that is safe for food. We say which is which on every piece, because a beautiful pot can still be the wrong tool.

Nothing in the studio is a secret recipe. The standard is simpler: know the material, fire it honestly, and only send out what survived.
